Ugly House on the block
It is so hard having the ugly house on the block, especially in my neighborhood of old houses, being the ugliest house on the block really says something. Even worse, most of my neighbors don't know me well enough to know that I am too busy to work on my house.
Not only is my house ugly but my giant yard is too. You wouldn't know if I didn't tell you that we have been plugging away at this place for over 2 years now.
The problem is that we work so much just to live in this hole that we don't have time to do very much. I am always wishing the schools will magically become just as good in some other city where the cost of living isn't 135% or whatever it is here.
Of course all of our extra money is going towards fixing the house up and of course labor is what is the most expensive. So our lifestyle as a whole is much less than ideal as a result. All in good time though right?
I hope to get a lot done over the summer but come fall, I'll be in school again and many things will get neglected. There is so much to do here that is difficult to know where to start and what to do next.
Unless we gut the house and start over there are lot of things we can't do here (like have a microwave over the range) that we would like to do. We will probably just make everything livable and wash our hands of it. Hopefully we can find something a little newer but still in the almighty Bellevue school district.
Are you the ugly house on the block? Tell me about it! If you aren't, how do you feel about the ugly house on the block? What are my neighbors probably thinking?
