Garden of Dreams
I think that the sketch I did a year back of what I want my back garden to look like once it is finished was a once in a lifetime achievement. The absolute pinnacle of my artistic endevour. I have recently been trying to do a similar sketch looking in the opposite direction, down the garden away from the house. I am afraid that the muse has deserted me. Given the Dyspraxia, it is amazing that the previous sketch got completed. However, I think that people can gleen enough information from that image and what I say about my garden to picture in their mind’s eye what I am looking for.
- The basic plan is to get three terraces, the first being a patio making a nice area for picnics and barbecues immediately outside my back door. I shall put some nice garden furniture in this part of the garden. A nice big table and a set of chairs, with a parasol. I would like to have a barbecue there as well.
- Next area will have a bit of a lawn and some borders for growing stuff like my strawberry and raspberry plants. This is where the new lilac plants are going to be there. I’m afraid that the landscaping is going to make quite a mess of the existing plants. I will have to plant a new set of lilacs, as I cannot call the the house Gardd Lelog, the Lilac Garden if there are dim lelogau yn yr gardd.
- Finally a little bit of a paved area outside the garage.
I think that the garage will have to be rebuilt. It is not quite long enough for modern cars. Even the Gilbern, a 1960’s sports car is a bit snug there. Everything is set up at the top end of the garden for electricity and water to be plumbed in down in the garage.
Lidl has had apple trees on sale recently. I am considering getting a couple so that I have a harvest of fruit during the autumn. They also have pear trees, to replace the one that used to be at the bottom of the garden, so that Gardd Lelog will also be perllan lelog.
