Fence Drama and some work stuff.
My wife and myself want to put a privacy fence around our backyard. We bought the house last August and it has this horrible chain link fence that has seen better days. We were planning and hoping that we could get a nice privacy fence with our tax returns.
We have had 3 contractors come out so far and give us estimates to put up a privacy fence and remove the chain link. The high estimate has been at $5,000 and the lowest has been from Lowes at $3,900, and honestly that difference is only because Lowes is going to use pressure treated pine vs. cedar. We are perfectly happy with pressure treated pine and we understand that it will not last as long as cedar and needs more maintenance. We set our budget at 3,500 unfortunately and well we are now debating on financing about $1,000 through a 0% interest Lowes card.
I want the fence, we need the fence, we hate credit.... but we need the fence. I am willing to finance $1000 at 0% interest because I know we make enough to get it paid off before the interest jumps. Edith on the other hand wants to build the fence in parts... the sides or the back first and then later do the rest. I think it will cost more and it won't come out looking proper.
Basically we are both frustrated with the whole thing and I keep saying it is up to you, make the decision, and she keeps saying it is up to me. Well leave it up to me and tonight we are going to Lowe's and telling them we are getting a fence.
In other news the new job is going well, I have received my first paycheck and it is lower than I am used to but this is such a good job I can deal with.
I am getting so much resistance at work over people not wanting to call the service desk to put in a trouble ticket. I have sent numerous emails and tried to explain to them that they will lose IT support for the San Antonio branches if not enough tickets are being created. They still just want me to drop whatever I am doing and go fix the problem immediately. I have been strong in telling them that I can not help them unless I see the ticket come in. They get pissed off and think that I am rude. A few people understand and follow the policy, I just need them to explain to the others why they need to do it.
