Conducting a Site Inventory
The next step in PLANTING WITH PURPOSE will be conducting a site inventory. The inventory will look at important factors such as your site's micro-climate.
Site Inventory Preparation:
- Place a piece of see-through paper or velum over your base map.
- Note topography, slopes, soil types, and drainage areas on your site inventory.
- Record prevailing seasonal winds, seasonal temperatures, and humidity.
- Provide sun and shade patterns in both summer and winter.
- Show and special features of and existing vegetation. (screens, windbreaks, etc.)
- Use arrows to show flow of vehicular and pedestrian access.
- Note views both good and bad.
- Use broken lines to show and legal setbacks.
