Clear Fields
The digger driver. A good man. I feel bad about doing the Builders thing before.
I get back from work today and he's cleared yet more fields of boulders. He's got two more days left, two more days that we can afford to have a big contractor here ripping shit out of the place.
Seeing the pond, now full of water, and the flat fields stretching out is breathtaking after having struggled with this place for three years. The place has changed a lot.
It would have taken me years to clear so much in my old JCB, his twelve tonner, on tracks, has undone the ice age, undone generations of cracker bastards dumping rocks around here, and turned what was three acres of rocks and swampland into totally flat (I'm talking croquet on the motherfucker with a glass of Pims flat) fields. Now all they need is some grass seeds, then later on some nitrate. Fucking big assed stately home garden with horses and shit running around.
The driver is not only a demon at ripping boulders out and chucking them away, and burrying them, but he can also do the delicate shit too. Which is where we're at tomorrow.
Tomorrow he takes out sections around the house, and makes a nice flat lawn in the front. The sections around the house are a peril - filled as they are with water pipes and electric cables. But he's in the fucking zone now, and I'm confident that after Thursday night when he's finished It'll be time to start picking out apple trees for front lawn / orchard, and then build a nice dry stone wall around the whole thing.
Also will need to buy a nice old iron gate from somewhere, and leave dips in the walls for flowers. Get some roses for over the gate. Use slate and stone well. Garnish with flowers, fucking bish bash bosh. Not really into these flower varieties however - so might have to find someone to ask about what to get. I am fortunate to know a Doctor of Horticulture so I might give him a call, buy him some Chateau Neuf Du Pape or something, get some professional head on the thing.
I will finish this post by recommending
