Boat Pad Project is off the Back Burner!
We live in one of those neighborhoods with a POA. I won't tell you what I think that stands for but, anytime my boat is in the driveway for over 24 hours - I find a silly little note in my mailbox from the POA to move it. So this weekend - after all the floods and the backyard dried out a little bit - we finally finished "THE BOAT PAD". We have been planning this project since last summer when I shoveled all this gravel out of the flower beds and replaced it with top soil and plants and things that would actually grow. The people who owned the house before us apparently didn't like doing yard work. Anyway - back to today's project.
Step one: In 50 mile/hr winds, we layed the tarp/weed block. I'm sure we look like DIY's "what not to do team".
Step two: Tell Tim he can't go fishing or to Sportsman's Warehouse until this project is finished, once and for all!

Tim taking a break. I have no idea what Gus (my malamute) is watching so intently. Probably thinking
about stealing my work gloves again.

Then, get your 20 year old strapping young son with a young back and young muscles to
throw some rocks on. See that pile of rocks to the right behind my son. That has been there since last summer and there are more rocks on the other side of the fence. More projects are in the works for next weekend. Shoveling rocks does not rock!

This is Jack! Our official Butt Sniffer. Jack was supervising between naps.

I WAS taking a picture of Rylee, but got Jack's nose when he snuck up on me.
At least he didn't sniff my butt.

This is Rylee! She has a serious rawhide addiction. We're seeking counseling.

And Gussie! He's the big dog around these parts.

My labs are very affectionate. Poor Rylee needs to lay off the snacks!

And - THE FINISHED PROJECT - OFF THE BACK BURNER AT LAST!
Now the boat can go in the backyard, behind the fence where it is suppose to be and not sink into the ground.
Tim has headed off to Sportsman's Warehouse for "fishing line" (he'll be gone for two hours) and I have settled in for my afternoon coffee break. Woo Hoo! I feel better but, I probably wont' be able to stand up straight for a week.
