Hydroponics, Grow Lights, and Plant Nutrients
I was propositioned by , to do a site review of their site. I am not too familiar with this area of gardening, so a little research is in order to do a good review of the site. So upon googling hydroponics, I came to , and found lots of good info. The information available on the site corresponded to the information in Wikipedia. I am not going to go into a full length report, but if you want more info on hydroponics, check the information out on either site.

First of all, what the heck is a hydroponic garden? From what I have found so far,(correct me if I am wrong please) its a garden that does not use soil. Apparently, plants do not need soil to grow, but they do need the nutrients that soil provides along with water. The nutrients that the plant needs can be in the water, thereby eliminating the need for soil. Hydroponics involves growing plants in water or in a medium like rocks or perlite.
If Earthinhand had a green house, they could use hydroponics to grow the young plants started prior to transplanting into soil. Earthinhand at this point in time does not grow their stock from seed, unless some little guys happen to sprout somewhere on the farm and don’t get mistaken for a weed.
Some other things that they will need for this endeavor in addition to the actual greenhouse and the hydroponics system are grow lights and a steady supply of plant nutrients.
Grow lights from Plantlightinghydroponics.com are available for either commercial or home gardening use. Information about includes light coverage, light choices, and lamp choices. Different types of grow lights include both florescent systems and heat lamp grow light systems such as metal halide lamps or high pressure sodium lamps.
In addition to grow lights, plant nutrients and information about are also available on the site. Plant nurtients include both mineral and non-mineral nutrients. Non-mineral being hydrogen, oyxgen and carbon that the plants get from water and air. The remaining 13 mineral nutrients are absorbed by the plant via the roots.
