Dwarf Fruit Trees

Dwarf fruit trees have become a popular addition to the modern landscape. In a Morning Call blog post, Fruit Trees for Dwarf Fruit Trees- Dwarf Peach Treesthe Backyard, Karen offers the Morning Call reader some suggestions about the types of fruit trees to plant in their Palmer Township front yard, but planting of dwarf fruit trees is not one of the suggestions that she offers the reader.

These new varieties of dwarf fruit trees are a great addition to your backyard retreat, and due to their small sizes, unlike the larger sizes require far less upkeep to keep producing fruit. As any fruit tree owner knows, special pruning needs to be done as well as spraying for disease and infestation in order to insure that the fruit is of good size and quality.
A great feature of many of these dwarf varieties is that they are self pollinating, so only one of the trees will be required to bear fruit. Dwarf fruit trees like the ones pictured here can bear fruit in the first year of planting.
